Shaun was first exposed to the game of volleyball at the age of 12 during his elementary school days. With fingers crossed, Shaun tried out for the volleyball team at Westminster Secondary School and was lucky enough to make the team. It was during these high school years that Shaun met fellow BVA and Zephyr Beach Club coach David Cousins. Dave was both a team-mate and coach of Shaun's, who was able to teach him the finer points of the game. During Grade 13, Shaun was introduced to the Forest City Volleyball Club and was again lucky enough to make the team. The Forest City Volleyball Club has long been recognized as one of the premier volleyball clubs in Canada. Being exposed to the elite nature of this club allowed Shaun to blossom as a volleyball player and ultimately earn a spot on the men's volleyball team at the University of Western Ontario. Shaun began playing beach volleyball at the age of 18. At 19, Shaun teamed up with Dave Cousins to win the Ontario Beach Volleyball Provincial Championships during their first year playing together. Shaun and Dave successfully went on to spend the next three years playing numerous provincial and national professional beach volleyball tournaments. Since then, Shaun has competed in professional beach volleyball tournaments all over Canada, the United States, Mexico, South America and Europe. Shaun has earned his National Level 2 technical beach volleyball coaching accreditation. Shaun is excited to introduce the game of beach volleyball to the youth of London and surrounding area. Hobbies: reading, working out, watching the London Knights and Toronto Maple Leafs, and traveling. Occupation: Shaun is a new business developer at the Info-Tech Research Group in London. Quote: "Volleyball, and specifically beach volleyball has given me so many wonderful opportunities over the years. The lasting friendships, the competitions, the social events, the long car rides, the agonizing defeats and the thrill of victory are memories I will cherish forever. I am extremely excited to help introduce this amazing game, and all that it offers, to the youth of London. |
