Eric Simon AKA “Shimon” began his volleyball career under the coaching of Vaughn Peckham in grade 9. He began playing on the Forest City U16 “C” Team and quickly rose to become one of the top end volleyball players FC has produced.

Over the span of his club career Eric has received OVA award of excellence, and a U 18 provincial championship in his last season. The Oakridge alumni carried his Oaks to a silver finish at the 2004 AAAA OFSAA in Ajax.

After a successful high school career Eric was highly recruited by many schools (including a scholarship to play in Indiana Perdue with Matty Zbyszewski). He eventually selected his home town school of Western. As a rookie Eric stepped up, immediately making an impact for his team. He was named to the All-Rookie team and finished 7th in the province with Aces. Eric is currently finishing his 5th and final year at Western, he has currently put together quite a resume of awards including, 2 First Team all stars, 1 2nd team all Canadian, and a purple blanket award winner.

Eric was late in exploring into the beach world. He first began playing in the summer of 2009, when he was selected to the provincial beach team. He experienced a successful first season as a beach player, finishing as a runner up in the Canada Summer Games qualifying tournament, and placing 5th at provincials with partner Shaun Furneaux.

Eric is currently working to join a professional club team over in Europe.
